I'm not super familiar with the DM 5 due to its terribly gay sounds and impossible to understand popularity in the metal scene, but I assume you need to create a custom kit inside the alesis, and assign the sounds you want to that kit. It can be done, because everything I've read on that module says you can. Meanwhile we need to perform and intervention to stop one more drummer from using this shit-assed sampler.
Mr. arrowhead.... while I agree that the samples are not that hot, it is the only module i could get on ebay to start me off in the trigger world for less than $125. I bought an Axis A2 Longboard for just over $700 with the two ekits, and the electronic cymbals to use for cymbal sounds/latin sounds (for the Tool tribute band i just joined) cost about a hundo a piece. So really i was just going for something to get started, and i will buy a better module as soon as our "Economic Stimulas Check" comes in. .... but i agree the sounds are kinda gay, unless you spend the time ajusting all the midi parameters. I got my bass drum sample to sound good, you just gotta make sure you dont fall into the "ham slapping against a brick wall" sound trap, and instead use a sound that actually resembles your kit. It was hard to get one to sound like my bubinga kit, but alas, i found one that sounds good. And then there was metal. :) p.s. hit me up man, we should catch up (arrowhead) ouchdrummer@gmail.com
