| this album is so fucking awesomne its just hurts. i cant even fully explain it, you just have to listen to all the songs. i cant belive it was made when i was a kindergardener. that fact is mind blowing to me. with songs like bleed for the devil and blasphemy, this album truly set a standard for metal brutality. most of todays so called metal cant even hold a candle to this album. it would just swallow them up in a whirling vortex of psychotic energy and madness that it is. for me the cover of this album fits it perfectly. Altars of madness is truly the morbid angel classic, not to mention the death metal classic.

| I totally agree. This is the album all grindcore and death metal bands stole their moves from. Morbid Angel and Napalm Death are the most inspiring death metal bands to me.

| Ah mannn, Maze Of Torment, Lord Of All Fevers and Plague, Chapel Of Ghouls, Damnation, Blasphemy. What a fucking great album!! Definitely a death metal must-have.

I love it!
"demons... Attack with hate!"

| Okay, I think I've reached a point where this is my favorite album by Morbid Angel. I'd love to see Visions from the Dark Side live.
|

| The song 'Suffocation' has one of my favorite bass fills ever.

One of the most innovative death metal albums ever made. With Trey Azagthoth's and Richard Brunelle's complex riffing and wailing solos, Pete Sandoval's machine-like precision on drums and David Vincent's rumbling bass and throat ripping vocals, 'Altars of Madness' set soaring new standards for extreme metal and really put Florida in the death metal spotlight.
This is pretty much mandatory for any death metal fan, it's a tried and true classic that will never lose the magic it created almost 20 years ago.
